Bowen Holdiay Park, formerly Bowen Village Caravan & Tourist Park, is a member of the TOP PARKS Group which has member parks right across Australia. The park was built in the late 70's in response to increased accommodation needs during the construction of the original Abbot Point coal loading facility, 23 kilometers north of Bowen. Developement is now underway that could make Abbot Point the largest coal loading facility in Queensland, on the 21st December 2015 the Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt gave the go-ahead for the expansion of the Abbot Point Coal Terminal.
In December 2005 the park became an Accredited Tourism Business, the first to do so in Bowen. This accreditation assured our guests of a high quality, consistent and profession code of conduct during their stay.
We have put in place many innovative ideas and processes in the park. We have won five Innovation Awards in the years 2005 to 2011 from our peers in the State Caravan Parks Association Queensland. Another industry first for the park, winning back to back (several) Innovation Awards.
Some of these include:
... Environmentally freindly onsite sewerage treatment system.
... Unique Park Management system integrating gate control, message notification and ease of booking in processes.
... Integrated hot water and washing machine controls utilising the parks Wifi and gate access passes.
